Between Praça do Areeiro and Alameda, there’s a building that looks just like many others in the area. An austere façade, well-behaved windows, and a certain serious air, like someone not in the mood for small talk. But inside, it’s a different story. Where once there were narrow kitchens, the famous “rabos de bacalhau”, there are now bedrooms. Next to the living room, cooking happens while chatting with whoever’s pretending to help.
Its original name, "Português Suave”, hasn’t changed. But inside, life is more practical and the mindset more open. In the shared stairwell, cork: a classic that still sets the rhythm on every floor. Less than five minutes from the Areeiro and Alameda metro stations, it’s close to the gardens of Fonte Luminosa and Praça de Londres, the Arroios Market, and Roma-Areeiro station.
The renovation reorganized all interior spaces with new kitchens, bathrooms, and technical systems. Original elements were preserved wherever possible. Energy efficiency was enhanced through solar panels, double-glazed window frames, and roof insulation being part of the European "Sharing Cities" program. The units were sold turnkey, ready to be lived in at the standard they deserve.

The Sharing Cities ‘lighthouse’ programme is a proving ground for a better, common approach to making smart cities a reality, financed by the European Commission. Lisbon, Milan and London seek to develop affordable, integrated, commercial-scale smart city solutions with a high market potential. The energy efficiency and sustainable building is Reabilita's main goal, as the only SME and private company in Lisbon's consortium. The other partners involved are Câmara Municipal de Lisboa, EDP, Emel, Altice, Ceiia, Instituto Superior Técnico and Lisboa ENova.
