Some streets in Lisbon feel like hidden gems. Small, narrow and tucked away, they sit just moments from the city's energy, yet somehow remain untouched by its pace.
Set in Bairro de São José, just off Avenida da Liberdade, this intimate six-apartment building preserves a way of life that is becoming increasingly rare. Neighbours still know each other by name, the corner grocery store remains part of daily life, and the quiet of the street feels worlds away from the avenue nearby.
The building has been carefully restored, preserving its original character while upgrading its structure, infrastructure and windows. Energy-efficient and sustainable solutions were also introduced as part of the Sharing Cities programme.
Cardal is a hidden retreat in the heart of Lisbon: close to everything, yet wonderfully removed from the city's bustle.
