In Estoril, among the quiet streets and garden villas, there was a house that had been forgotten. Built in 1941, it felt like a palace from another time: when dresses were long and staircases bore witness to love and heartbreak. When we found it, late afternoon light still filtered through the windows, a green roof peeked through the branches, and dust had settled everywhere. A ruin we refused to let remain ruined.
Its rehabilitation did not erase its history, it simply brought back its shine. With new infrastructure and materials that extend its memory, comfort was restored. Inside, a generous entrance hall with vaulted ceilings, tiles, ceramics, and shutters were carefully brought back to life. The quiet exoticism of the green roof, the service staircase leading to the attic, and the logically structured rooms were all preserved, maintaining a certain old-world charm.
Today, Estoril is a house with a past, ready for the future. It knows what it has been, but still has time to discover what it can become. Close to the sea, the sun, and the city, it holds on to the intimacy of a place where life is still lived at a slower pace.
