In Murches, among houses, trees and the everyday movement of people passing by, a new office building is taking shape, one that prefers to stay closer to the ground. Low and long, it looks for its place between the scale of the houses on one side and the commercial activity on the other.

Inside, people work, of course, but the day never feels shut in by four walls. The glazed façades, balconies and terraces bring in so much light that the workspace always feels close to the outdoors. Where trees already stood, the building works around them, opening up to create small courtyards and places where you can step outside and wait for an idea to arrive.

As you move upwards, the relationship with the surroundings begins to change. The views open up, there are outdoor spaces facing west and, on the top floor, a large terrace that naturally extends the workspace outside.

The language is simple and direct: exposed concrete, glass and metal, materials that do not need to pretend to be anything else. On the south façade, vertical elements help filter the sun and create shade without taking away from the building’s transparency.

There is parking, space for bicycles and photovoltaic panels on the roof. None of it is particularly poetic, admittedly, but these are the things that make everyday life a little easier.

A building designed for work, but with room for everything that does not make it onto the agenda.
