Building

This building from 1933 is located in the small intricate neighborhood of São José, on the eastern hillside of Avenida da Liberdade. It's a charming building with its own character due to its scale and location, its original structure of balconies and original materials, an architectural portrait that has been preserved. In this building, solutions were implemented for greater energy efficiency and sustainability under the Sharing Cities* program.

Development project

• The works on the building started in March 2017 and ended in January 2018, by the construction company PMJ
• It has a new roof and a new steel structure of balconies, the facades were restored, the window frames replaced as well as the building infrastructures, kitchens and sanitary facilities
• A photovoltaic energy system was installed, under the Sharing Cities* sustainability program
• All the apartments were completed turnkey
• The apartments were sold in October 2017

The Sharing Cities ‘lighthouse’ programme is a proving ground for a better, common approach to making smart cities a reality, financed by the European Commission. Lisbon, Milan and London seek to develop affordable, integrated, commercial-scale smart city solutions with a high market potential. The energy efficiency and sustainable building is Reabilita's main goal, as the only SME and private company in Lisbon's consortium. The other partners involved are Câmara Municipal de Lisboa, EDP, Emel, Altice, Ceiia, Instituto Superior Técnico and Lisboa ENova.
