Charneca do Guincho is a picturesque village surrounded by the famous Sintra Cascais Natural Park with a pedestrian access to Guincho Beach. This house, originally built in 1998, has a panoramic view over the greenery and the houses around, and its southern orientation let's the sun in almost all day.
The intervention sought to modernize a former classical architecture with no visual interest, as well as adapting it to a more modern living.
The ground floor of the house was completely redesigned, with new partitioning, where the kitchen was transferred to the most privileged place for communication with the outside.The large terrace opens to a swimming pool (that originally didn't exist) and a pergola. A glass cube was designed as the outstanding architectural statement.
On the first floor, no major changes were made. The original bedrooms and bathrooms were kept as the original version, but new materials and colors were introduced.
