This building fits in the original design of Areeiro's neighborhood, and it marks the era and architectural current of "Estado Novo", which became known as "Soft Portuguese". The rehabilitation of this residential building seeked to preserve the original and characteristic constructive features of the time, updating its interior layout and requests for energy efficiency to the contemporary demands, intending to distinguish itself from the offer in this area of the city. This building and project is part of the Sharing Cities*, which means that solutions geared towards energy efficiency and sustainability were implemented.

The Sharing Cities ‘lighthouse’ programme is a proving ground for a better, common approach to making smart cities a reality, financed by the European Commission. Lisbon, Milan and London seek to develop affordable, integrated, commercial-scale smart city solutions with a high market potential. The energy efficiency and sustainable building is Reabilita's main goal, as the only SME and private company in Lisbon's consortium. The other partners involved are Câmara Municipal de Lisboa, EDP, Emel, Altice, Ceiia, Instituto Superior Técnico and Lisboa ENova.
